The Winnipeg Jets are down, but they're not out.

Trailing two games to one in the best-of-seven, second round playoff series with the Dallas Stars, the Jets are looking to buck an ugly trend on Tuesday.

So far this postseason, Winnipeg has been unable to secure even one win as the visitor. The Jets played seven games in the opening round against the St. Louis Blues. They lost each of the three games in Missouri.

Now, three games into the second round, the Jets have failed to earn a victory in their first test in the Lone Star State. Game 4 will be played on Tuesday night, meaning Winnipeg will have its fifth opportunity to pick up a win on the road.

This time, it is needed more than ever.

As opposed to the first round, where the Jets earned victories in all four games at Canada Life Centre, Winnipeg left town with a 1-1 series split. The Jets fell 5-2 in Dallas on Sunday, meaning they trail 2-1 with a critical Game 4 coming up.

Should Winnipeg manage its first road win of the playoffs, the Jets would retain their home-ice advantage for what would become a miniature best-of-three in Games 5, 6 and 7.

Should they lose on Tuesday night, they would need to win all three remaining games to stay alive in the chase.

One would say Tuesday night is a pivotal contest.

For the NHL's Presidents' Trophy-winning club as the points leader through 82 games of regular season play, anything short of a third round appearance would be considered a failure.

Incredibly, Winnipeg held the No. 1 record on the road during the regular season. That success has not translated to the postseason, where the Jets are an abysmal 0-4.

Now, having lost at home for the first time, a road win will be necessary in order to move on.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM central time on Tuesday night.
