After a lengthy interview process, the club has come to the decision of promoting from within - as many expected.

The chosen candidate is Scott Arniel - a name familiar to most who follow the organization.

He is the ninth head coach in franchise history and fourth since the team relocated to Winnipeg.

The 61-year-old has been with the Jets as the associate coach for the last two years.

He went 15-7-3 in two separate stints this season as he served as head coach on an interim basis while the now retired Rick Bowness was away from the club.

Arniel’s time with the organization dates back to 1981, when was selected 22nd overall by Winnipeg in the NHL Draft. He played five years with the Jets and since has coached the Manitoba Moose and most recently with the Jets.

The Kingston, ON. product will look to fill out his personal coaching staff in the coming weeks.
