The Winnipeg Jets have lost defenceman Declan Chisholm via a Waiver claim from the nearby Minnesota Wild.
The Jets were reluctant to place the young blueliner on Waivers at the start of the season, keeping him around on the team's extended roster, to which he was able to draw into action just two times.
Winnipeg has been hit hard by the injury bug this season, but mainly on offence, as the defence has been relatively the same since the get-go.
Nate Schmidt had previously worked his way out of the rotation on the back-end, in favour of a combination of Logan Stanley and Declan Chisholm, but has since become a regular running mate of Dylan Samberg.
Thanks to the club's inability to move on from Stanley, the team has lost both Johnathan Kovacevic and Chisholm to Waivers, amongst other notable draft capital losses.
Only able to suit up in two games this year, Chisholm has one assist and is a plus-1 in that brief experiment.
Buried behind Stanley, and at time Ville Heinola, Chisholm will get a new opportunity with the Jets' nearest geographical rival in St. Paul. He is earning $775K and is set to become an RFA at season's end.
Should he have passed through unclaimed, Chisholm would have been eligible to suit up for the AHL's Manitoba Moose - a team in need of some defensive support.
