The Winnipeg Jets have lost forward Jansen Harkins to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have added forward Jansen Harkins by way of Waivers from the Winnipeg Jets.

Harkins, a 2015 second round pick, was placed on Waivers on Sunday in hopes he'd clear and be able to help lead the offence with the AHL's Manitoba Moose again this season.

That wasn't the case, so the 26-year-old will be given the opportunity to prove his worth to coach Mike Sullivan and the Penguins' staff.

Harkins - who has scored two goals for Winnipeg this preseason - was certainly the most intriguing option for teams looking for a depth player capable of scoring goals. He had 25 goals and 50 points in 44 games for Manitoba last year, while also suiting up in 22 games for the Jets.

Although a favourite of former bench boss Paul Maurice, Harkins fell out of favour as Rick Bowness took over in Winnipeg last offseason.

In 154 total NHL games, the Cleveland, OH. product has 13 goals, 27 points and 36 penalty minutes. Harkins also has another goal and four penalty minutes in four postseason matchups.
