Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers has resumed skating with strength and conditioning coach Jake Wolff.
The 29-year-old has been out of the lineup since Apr. 12 after colliding with an official against the Chicago Blackhawks. After suffering the injury, Ehlers was given a week-to-week timeline and has now begun the recovery process.
Following this morning's practice, HC Scott Arniel told the media in Winnipeg that this is not the first time Ehlers has been on the ice and that he'll join the team for practice in a non-contact jersey tomorrow.
Although Arniel could not provide a timeline for Ehlers' return, it's a step in the right direction.
If everything goes according to plan, the Jets will be welcoming back Gabriel Vilardi for Game 5. He'll provide the Jets will some much-needed offence and scoring efficiency.
Ehlers could provide that for the Jets as well, but it remains highly unlikely that he will return for the first round. With the series tied at two games apiece, the Jets need to find a way to win this series to give Ehlers a chance to leave his mark on the 2024-25 playoffs.
