The Winnipeg Jets are preparing for another elimination game against the Dallas Stars amid heartbreaking news that Mark Scheifele's father, Brad, passed away in the night.

The 32-year-old did not practice with the team this morning, staying at the hotel with his coach, Scott Arniel, but he's decided that he will play tonight.

"As an organization, we’re doing everything we can to support him and we give his family members sincere condolences and obviously ask that everybody respect his and their privacy at this time," general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff told the media in the morning.

The Jets fought off elimination on Thursday, defeating the Dallas Stars 4-0. Scheifele got a fortunate bounce to open the scoring in the second period, and the Jets never looked back. Nikolaj Ehlers and Vladislav Namestnikov added power play markers in the third period before Ehlers secured the win with an empty-net goal.

The Jets dominated, outshooting the Stars 35-22 and earning every bit of the win. Although it's nearly impossible to replicate a perfect performance, the Jets will aim to replicate it as closely as possible.

Connor Hellebuyck recorded his second shutout of the series, but as the Jets head back into Dallas, his road struggles do too. If the Jets have any hope of winning their first road game of the playoffs and keep their season alive, Hellebuyck will need to be the Hellebuyck they expect him to be.

The Stars have been near perfect at home, winning five of their six games played at the American Airlines Center. The Jets' power play on the road has gone 0-7 this series and will need to click to create offence against a tough-checking team.

Tonight's game will be an emotional affair, regardless of the result, but the Jets would sure love to win it for their longest tenured player.
