The OHL held its annual awards ceremony from the Hockey Hall of Fame this past week and DiVincentiis was one of the big winners.
Named as the league's top backstop back in May, the Jets' 2022 seventh round draft pick made his way to Toronto for the ceremony, to which he was presented with the OHL's Jim Rutherford Trophy, given annually to the league's Goaltender of the Year, as determined by the coach's and general managers across the league.
"I am truly humbled and honoured to be receiving this Jim Rutherford Trophy today as the top goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League," DiVincentiis said in his speech. "To share this recognition with some of the best goaltenders in our league's history is extremely exciting."
The 19-year-old had himself a stellar 2022-23 season for the North Bay Battalion. He went 36-9-2 with a 2.33 goals against average and a .919 save percentage on the season.
Each of those statistics led the league.
And his postseason numbers are actually slightly better than what he did in the regular season (2.31 GAA, .929 SP).
"This award in my opinion is a recognition to the incredible support and encouragement I have received from my teammates, coaches, staff and the fans with the North Bay Battalion," DiVincentiis added.
He had five shutouts on the year, which was tied for first among all backstops. In fact, the second year player didn't even lose consecutive games all season.
DiVincentiis was also recently named to the CHL's Second All-Star Team.
He had a number of people to thank for the award, including the people who actually selected him for the trophy - a rarity in recent years.
"I would also like to extent my sincere gratitude to the selection committee at the OHL for brining my name forward for this award. To be recognized amongst my peer goaltenders who were also nominated, it is a privilege that I do not take for granted by any means.
"Finally, I want to share this award with my family, my billet family and the sport network around me who have been with me for every step along the way. Your love and support have been my greatest source of strength and motivation; I am grateful for every moment we have shared together through my career to date on and off the ice. Thank you again for this incredible award and I look forward to continuing represent the best junior hockey league in the world."
