The Winnipeg Jets continue to get business done as the summer kicks into high gear.

On Monday morning, the team announced that it had agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Morgan Barron, avoiding arbitration.

The deal is for two years and features an annual average value of $1.85 million.

Barron, 26, put up eight goals and 15 points to go alongside 16 penalty minutes in 74 games for Winnipeg last season. He also registered two helpers in 13 postseason contests for the Jets this spring.

Originally selected in the sixth round by the New York Rangers, Barron joined the Jets by way of the Andrew Copp trade, and has gone on to put up 30 goals, 60 points and 80 penalty minutes in 256 games in a depth forward role.

Without signing Nikolaj Ehlers, the Jets now have roughly $18 million left to spend in free agency. With Barron now signed for the next two seasons, Winnipeg will look to move on to the contracts of fellow RFAs Dylan Samberg and Gabe Vilardi as the summer progresses.
