The Winnipeg Jets have recalled top prospect Brayden Yager following the conclusion of his WHL season.
Yager and the Lethbridge Hurricanes worked their way to the WHL Conference Finals, beating the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Calgary Hitmen. Awaiting them in the Conference Finals was Gavin McKenna and the Medicine Hat Tigers. Despite a valiant effort, the Tigers swept the Hurricanes, ending Yager's WHL career.
The 20-year-old took home the WHL championship last year with the Moose Jaw Warriors but was dealt to the Hurricanes mid-way through the year. He recorded 14 goals and 52 points in 33 games following the trade, including eight goals and 14 points in 16 playoff games.
At this stage in the playoffs, it's unlikely that Yager will find his way into the Jets' lineup, but the experience of being around the team for practices and watching from the press box will do him well. He'll have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp and preseason next year, but if he's not ready, he'll head to the Manitoba Moose in the AHL.
