On Sunday, the Winnipeg Jets announced the signing of prospect Kieron Walton to a three-year contract.

The deal will begin for the 2025-26 season, to which the 18-year-old will be paid $775K if playing at the NHL level. Should he spend his time playing for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, Walton would earn $80K next year, and $85K the following two seasons.

This past season saw exceptional growth for Walton, the 187th selection of the 2024 NHL Draft. He scored five points in four games for Sudbury as the Wolves were swept by the Kingston Frontenacs in four games in the first round of the OHL playoffs.

But during the regular season, he put up 38 goals and 92 points as a 6-foot-6 forward, good for ninth place league-wide in scoring.

With a handful of games left to play, the Moose may consider adding Walton to their lineup for the final week of the 2024-25 AHL season.
