The Winnipeg Jets fell 6-3 from UBS Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Carter Brooks Winnipeg Jets Postgame Report

After starting their season-high five-game road trip with three-straight wins, the Winnipeg Jets have now lost back-to-back games.

And neither game was even close.

Connor Hellebuyck lasted just a period-and-a-half on Saturday, allowing five goals on just 26 New York Islanders shots through the midway mark of the second period.

He was replaced by Laurent Brossoit, who performed well, stopping 12 of the 13 pucks he faced in relief.

Winnipeg fell behind early and never recovered.

Giving up three goals in the opening frame, Winnipeg finished the first period down 3-1 on a goal from Vladislav Namestnikov.

But it was two quick strikes in the second period from New York that did the team in, as Hellebuyck was pulled by acting head Scott Arniel.

Mason Appleton and Cole Perfetti responded with third period strikes for Winnipeg, but that was as close as the visitors would come, ultimately falling 6-3 on Long Island in the fourth stop of the five-game road trip.

Next up for the Jets is the final stop of the five-game road trip, as Winnipeg makes its way to Washington for a Sunday morning test with Alex Ovechkin and the familiar Capitals.
