Manitoba Moose goaltender Thomas Milic has been given the American Hockey League's top honour following his stellar week of play.
For the week ending March 17, the 20-year-old Milic played in all three games for the Moose, going 3-0-0 in the process. And for that, he was named the AHL's Player of the Week.
Giving up just four total goals on the 85 shots faced, he helped Manitoba add to its six-point lead for a postseason spot in the current Central Division playoff standings.
Milic posted a .953 save percentage and a sparkling 1.30 goals against average over the past three games. The Jets' 2023 fifth round pick began his week with a 6-0 shutout victory over the Milwaukee Admirals, before beating the Chicago Wolves 3-2 in a shootout. He then turned aside 31 of 33 pucks in the retribution game against Chicago, to which his team won handily, 6-2.
Milic is 11-5-1 on the season and has a 2.63 goals against average and a .908 save percentage, while going 6-0-0 on the month.
Manitoba next plays on Wednesday night against the visiting Grand Rapids Griffins. That game gets underway at 7:00 PM central time from Canada Life Centre. It can be viewed live on AHL TV.
