

Winnipeg Jets first line centreman Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week.
Lauded for his outstanding stretch of games over the past seven days, Scheifele put up eight points in those three games, headlining a list of three 'stars' that also include Marin Necas and Tage Thompson.

The Jets have been on a hot streak coming out of the Olympic break, as the team has earned points in all six games, including wins in its past three appearances. Winnipeg is now just five points out of a playoff spot with one quarter of the schedule left to be played.
Scheifele collected a goal and two helpers in a 3-2 overtime win over Chicago on Tuesday, before grabbing another goal and assist in a 4-1 win over Tampa on Thursday. He finished the week with another goal and two assists in another 3-2 extra time win over Vancouver on Saturday. In the process, he scored his 30th goal of the season.
The Winnipeg Jets' 2.0 first ever draft selection six sixth league-wide with 30 goals and 78 points in 62 games played this season. He leads Winnipeg in all three offensive stat categories.
