The Winnipeg Jets are taking some heat from a former disgruntled player of Scott Arniel's.

The Winnipeg Jets announced the hiring of new head coach Scott Arniel exactly one week ago.

Shortly thereafter, former NHL defenceman - and more recently 'online sh*t disturber' - Mike Commodore weighed in on the move.

He immediately posted the following tweet on Twitter, citing his displeasure after playing for Arniel back in 2011 in Columbus.

"Massive mistake by the Jets," Commodore shared.

"Scott Arniel is a loser. He’s been a loser his entire career. Got a chance years ago..his arrogance ruined everything..he’s spent the last 14 years with his nose up a**holes & his lips wrapped around b*lls. #Loser"

The tweet certainly sparked some online fury - and rightly so.

It became abundantly clear that Commodore's insights came from Arniel's short stint as bench boss - one that didn't sit well with the outspoken defender.

Commodore - who was among Columbus' top-paid players at the time - was often a healthy scratch under Arniel's watch. He ultimately demanded a trade from the organization, but the team couldn't find a suitor, he was Waived and joined the Detroit Red Wings, where he received similar treatment under Mike Babcock - another coach to whom Commodore has unloaded against online.

After his viral tweet, Commodore appeared on an episode of Leafs Morning Take and he admitted to acting on impulse and tweeting 'selfishly'.

"I will say my tweet was probably a little bit selfish," he said. "It'll be interesting to see how it goes because he's been in Winnipeg as an assistant. So if he pulls that sh*t, they're obviously going to see right away. For me, you see somebody's true colors when they get in a position of power and when he did, he was a piece of sh*t."

Commodore reflected upon an early memory of Arniel - one that still sticks with him to this day.

"Everybody went to the bar. We weren't drinking or anything; we were just sitting there, and it was like a kind of a team get-together, and I remember him coming over and I saw him walk in. And as soon as he walked into the bar, I saw him puffing his chest out and like, put his arms out like he thought he was the man. And I remember seeing that, and I was like, 'No, not this sh*t.' He was so arrogant."

Commodore, now 44, finished his NHL career with 23 goals and 106 points in 484 games of 11 seasons.

Arniel, who has spent the last 11 years as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals and Jets, went 46-60-18 with the Blue Jackets during his lone head coaching gig. This season in relief of Rick Bowness, Arniel went an impressive 15-7-3 in 25 games for Winnipeg.
