The Manitoba Moose bolstered their blueline with nearly 500 games of AHL experience, securing Dysin Mayo, a veteran right-shot defender, to lead their young corps through the 2027-28 season.

The Manitoba Moose have added another experienced piece to their blueline.

The club announced this week that it has signed veteran defenceman Dysin Mayo to a two-year American Hockey League contract through the 2027-28 season, bringing nearly 500 games of AHL experience to Winnipeg.

Mayo, 29, spent the 2025-26 campaign with the Cleveland Monsters, recording 29 points (three goals, 26 assists) and a plus-16 rating in 59 regular-season games. He added three assists in nine Calder Cup Playoff contests and also appeared in three NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Victoria, B.C., product will enter his 12th professional season this fall, having played 485 AHL games with Cleveland, Henderson, Tucson and Springfield, compiling 126 points (32 goals, 94 assists). He has also suited up for 85 NHL contests between the Blue Jackets and Arizona Coyotes, recording four goals and 13 points.

Mayo arrives in Manitoba with championship experience dating back to his junior career. He helped the Edmonton Oil Kings capture both the WHL championship and Memorial Cup in 2014 before being selected by the former Phoenix Coyotes in the fifth round, 133rd overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft.

His resume also includes international success, having won a silver medal with Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Championship.

For the Moose, Mayo adds another steady, right-shot veteran to a blueline that will continue balancing experienced leadership with the organization's younger defensive prospects. His extensive AHL experience should make him an important piece both on the ice and in the dressing room over the next two seasons.
