The Manitoba Moose are heading to the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Rick Bowness Pre-Trip

The Manitoba Moose will be taking part in the American Hockey League's Calder Cup Playoffs this spring.

Thanks to the club's 7-4 victory over the Iowa Wild on Saturday, paired with Chicago's 3-1 loss to Grand Rapids, the Moose were guaranteed a placement the postseason.

It did not matter what happened against Iowa on Sunday - which ultimately ended in a Moose defeat (4-3).

The postseason berth was clinched with four games to go, marking the 18th time that Manitoba will see playoff hockey (including both IHL and AHL competition). The Moose have made it to the Calder Cup Final one time (2009), while also appearing in 2014 while operating out of St. John's as the IceCaps.

Manitoba will face off against the Texas Stars when the postseason scheduled is announced next week.

The Moose will now hit the road for a three-game road trip to close out the season, which will see a quick one-game stop in Milwaukee on Wednesday, before the team, interestingly, makes its way to Texas for a two-game, pre-playoff, mini-series with its first round opponent this weekend.
