Fresh off the heels of a two-game sweep over the visiting Rockford IceHogs last weekend, the Manitoba Moose opened another two-game set with a loss to the Calgary Wranglers on Friday.
They will look to rebound with a win in Alberta on Sunday against the very same Wranglers in a matinee showdown.
On Friday, it was as simple as being 'out-goalied', as Manitoba's Collin Delia made just 31 stops on the 37 shots he faced, while Calgary's Oskar Dansk turned aside 29 of the 31 pucks fired his way.
Brad Lambert and Danny Zhilkin each scored for the Moose, which fell to 9-10-0 on the season and currently sit fifth in the Central Division with 18 points and a winning percentage under .500.
Manitoba actually scored the game's opening goal in a four-on-four situation, before surrendering three goals in the middle stanza. Two of which came on Wranglers' power plays.
Once again it was the Moose who scored first in the third period, cutting the deficit to just one, but three more Calgary strikes put things out of hand as the game wore on.
Tyrel Bauer, Nick Jones and Jeff Malott were the only Moose skaters to finish the game as positive players on the plus/minus tracker.
Manitoba will look to correct things on Sunday afternoon back at the Scotiabank Saddledome in the 2:00 PM central start time. The game can be viewed live on AHL TV.
