The Manitoba Moose have reassigned forward Thomas Caron to the ECHL's Trois-Rivieres Lions.

Having skated in just five games for the Moose this season, the 22-year-old left winger has two assists to his name.

The 2022-23 season has been somewhat of a step back for the Candiac, QUE. product. Having begun his professional career last season with the Moose, Caron suited up in the antlers 40 times, where he scored three goals and six points.

But it was Caron's physicality and willingness to scrap that helped cement his role within the team's bottom-six. The 2019-20 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League penalty minutes leader had 41 penalty minutes in his 40 games with Manitoba last season, while maintaining a decent minus-4 rating in terms of his plus-minus as a checking forward.

This year, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound winger has just one fight on his resume. He played a stretch of three games in five days in late-March, after suiting up in a back-to-back earlier in the month.

Having started the year with Trois-Rivieres, Caron will look to regain some of his familiarity with his Lions teammates, where he already has two goals, five points and six penalty minutes on the season.

Currently sitting at 34-23-5-4 on the year, the Moose have just six regular season games left to wrap up one of the final Western Conference playoff spots. Earning five points will be enough to earn a berth.

Manitoba is next in action on Thursday night from Canada Life Centre, when it hosts the Grand Rapids Griffins in a 7:00 PM central time showdown.
