The Winnipeg Jets and forward Morgan Barron have agreed to terms on a two-year contract.

Restricted free agent forward Morgan Barron has officially signed on the dotted line.

On Monday morning, the Winnipeg Jets announced a two-year, $2.7 million contract for the 24-year-old Halifax, Nova Scotia product, negating the need for a salary arbitration hearing.

The 'bridge' style deal carries a $1.35 annual average value and is of the one-way variety, meaning he will need to pass through Waivers if, for whatever reason, he needs to be sent down to the AHL.

Barron will remain a restricted free agent with arbitration rights following the expiration of this contract in the summer of 2025.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound forward had eight goals and 21 points in 70 regular season games for the Jets, while skating in five postseason games against Vegas.

Originally a sixth round pick of the New York Rangers (2017), Barron joined the Jets at the 2022 trade deadline as part of the return in the Andrew Copp deal.

He has skated in 102 career NHL games, while posting 11 goals, 27 points and 41 penalty minutes.

General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and the Jets now have four remaining restricted free agents to sign before the 2023-24 season: Gabe Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari, Logan Stanley and Declan Chisholm.
