Winnipeg's Nikolaj Ehlers is expecting to suit up for the Jets on Saturday.

Carter Brooks provides an injury update for THN

Winnipeg's Nikolaj Ehlers is good to go for the Jets on Saturday afternoon.

He appeared in serious discomfort after crashing heavily into the end-boards as he attempted to disrupt an empty-net goal by Andrew Mangiapane in the Jets' 5-3 season-opening loss to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.

But according to his coach, he is no worse for wear.

"No, there is no injury concern there," said head coach Rick Bowness following Friday's practice. "He's ready to go."

Having missed the entire preseason due to ongoing neck spasms, Ehlers suited up for the first time on Wednesday since Game 5 of the Jets' opening round playoff series against Vegas.

The speedy forward did not appear out of place in his first game action, skating in 17:03 of the opening game and putting up three shots on net. He did, however, finish a -2 and didn't appear anywhere else on the stat sheet.

Ehlers is expected to once again suit up alongside Cole Perfetti and Nino Niederreiter on the team's second line, as Winnipeg opens its home schedule at 3:00 PM central time at Canada Life Centre. The game can be viewed live on Sportsnet.
