The Winnipeg Jets are reportedly interviewing Craig Berube on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Winnipeg Jets are fully engaged in head coaching interviews following their early postseason exit at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche.

A posting by Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli indicated that former St. Louis Blues bench boss Craig Berube will be sitting down with Jets front office and management staff for the head coaching job interview on Tuesday.

Having long been known as 'homers', True North Sports + Entertainment may be able to kick the Scott Arniel takeover rumours down the street a bit further should Seravalli's report hold merit.

With Rick Bowness announcing his retirement earlier this month, the Jets will need to to sort out their coaching situation for 2024-25. The best guess around town is that the team resorts to former Jets player, Moose coach and current Jets associate Scott Arniel to take over the reins.

But if other candidates openly choose to visit Winnipeg, why wouldn't the team consider bringing in some proven talent.

No, the weather on Tuesday in Winnipeg isn't all that bright, but the Jets' prospect development and farm club's future certainly is.

Will that be enough of a sway for Berube to choose Manitoba as his new home?

Already highly sought after by other NHL clubs - the Toronto Maple Leafs included - will Berube opt to remain in the Central Division? A place where he won the Stanley Cup after defeating these very Jets in the opening round of the 2019 postseason?

In 543 total games between the Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues, Berube has a 281-190-72 record in regular season play. He is 27-28 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The 58-year-old Albertan spent 18 years playing in the NHL with the Flyers, Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. He has 61 goals, 159 points and 3,149 penalty minutes to his name.
