Founded in 2015, Da Beauty League operates during the NHL's offseason as an outlet for professional players to skate, tournament-style in four-on-four, two period play.
Operating out of Braemar Arena in Edina, Minnesota - a southwestern suburb of Minneapolis - Da Beauty League will see three members of the Winnipeg Jets in action on Wednesday night.
Newly-signed Manitoba Moose forward C.J. Suess and Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg will join Nate Schmidt for Day 2 of the tournament, after Schmidt skated in the summer league opener last Wednesday.
Da Beauty League's mission statement is as follows:
"Originally founded in 2015, da Beauty League wanted to bring beauties together and grow da sport of hockey," the website reads. "To do this we host games with some of da best NHL players at Braemar Arena in Edina and at da end of da season donate da money to a few hockey non-profits."
"Our fans are families, die-hard hockey fans, and people that just want to have fun in da summer. People come to see da games, get autographs, and just hang out. There is also a very select group of people that come for da coffee at Braemar – apparently, it’s pretty good hockey rink coffee."
Three games will be on tap on Wednesday, with puck drops scheduled for 5:00, 6:15 and 7:30 PM respectively. Fans can tune into the action here.
