It's not every day you make $1 million per goal scored.

But that was exactly what happened to Strathclair's Morgan Geekie on Sunday.

After putting up a career-high 33 goals last season, the 26-year-old cashed in on a six-year contract with the Boston Bruins for a total of exactly $33 million - one million for each goal scored.

He will earn an average annual value of $5.5 million through the 2030-31 NHL season with Boston.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward also added another 24 assists for 57 points in a resurgent year after not being given a qualifying offer with the Seattle Kraken after the 2022-23 campaign, Geekie signed with Boston two years back and put up a decent 17 goals and 39 points in 76 games, before going off the charts last year.

For his career with the Carolina Hurricanes, Kraken and Bruins, Geekie is up to 72 goals and 159 points over 333 regular season games, while adding another six goals and 10 points in 37 postseason contests.
