After sitting out the second round, Winnipeg has made its second selection of the draft, taking Zach Nehring 82nd overall.

Having selected Colby Barlow with the No. 18 pick on Wednesday, the Jets turned to a 6-foot-3, 180-pound forward with their first pick of the second day of the draft.

The 18-year-old right-winger comes to Winnipeg via the nearby Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep School in Minnesota.

He is a highly-productive, offensive star, who has found success within the USHS Prep U-18 league in recent years.

The Minot, North Dakota product put up a stellar 39 goals and 85 points in just 54 games with Shattucks last season. In four years with various iterations of the team, Nehring has 93 goals and 253 points, to go alongside 293 penalty minutes in 192 total games.

He is a Western Michigan commit, to which he will join the NCAA Division I Broncos for 2023-24.

Now with Barlow and Nehring having been chosen, Cheveldayoff has another wait on its hands, as the Jets' next pick comes in at No. 146 overall in the fifth round. As a matter of fact, Winnipeg will be choosing twice in a span of five selections as it also owns the 151st overall pick as well.

The Jets will finish things off on Thursday evening with a seventh round pick, 210th overall, for the team's final choice at the annual selection event.
