After already completing a trade with the New Jersey Devils on Friday morning that saw Tyler Toffoli shipped for two draft picks, the Winnipeg Jets have struck oil again.

This time, it came in the form of a veteran, right-shot defenceman, and once again featured a mid-round draft pick heading south to the Jersey turnpike. The official selection will be Winnipeg's fourth rounder in 2026.

The Jets have added Colin Miller, another pending unrestricted free agent, who has loads of Stanley Cup playoff experience.

Much like Toffoli, the fellow 31-year-old grew up in the Ontario Hockey League and played for his hometown Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, before joining the Boston Bruins for two seasons.

He then progressed to Vegas, where the Golden Knights beat the Jets and went to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. He then spent three seasons in Buffalo, before joining the Dallas Stars for one year, before being dealt to New Jersey for the 2023-24 season.

In 41 games for the Devils, Miller has four goals, eight points and 24 penalty minutes. He has 39 goals and 165 points in 507 career regular season games, and another four goals and 12 points in 40 postseason matches.

He is in the final few months of a contract carrying a $1.85 million cap hit.

Miller will join a defensive corps that already boasts Josh Morrissey, Dylan DeMelo, Neal Pionk, Brenden Dillon, Dylan Samberg, Nate Schmidt and Logan Stanley.
