The Winnipeg Jets selected 6-foot-1, 175-pound defenceman Sascha Boumedienne 28th overall at the 2025 NHL Draft.

The son of former NHL player Josef Boumedienne, Sascha was born in Oulu, Finland, but considers himself a Swede.

He set a record for defensive scoring with 14 points in his U18 showing, while recently put up the second-most points by an NCAA defenceman aged 18 or younger with 13 points this past season.

Boumedienne put up just six assists in his first 28 collegiate games for Boston University, but poured it on in the second half, scoring three times and adding four assists in his final 12 outings.

The left-shooting defenceman opted to join the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms for the 2023-24 season, where he produced three goals and 27 points in 49 games from the blueline, before committing to Boston for 2024-25. He will look to continue his university career within Hockey East as a drafted member of the Jets.
