The Winnipeg Jets have started the season 3-0-0.

After starting the season a perfect 3-0-0 for the first time since relocating to Winnipeg, the Jets are off for four days.

Well, not exactly. Other than Thanksgiving Monday, the club is at one of the two team facilities at least once a day for the rest of the week.

No, it's not the team's official 'bye week' which will happen during the 2025 4 Nations Cup (February 12-20) this year, but it is a nice - yet unexpected - break.

It's just the fact that the red-hot Jets don't play any games between Sunday and Friday is the interesting scheduling quirk - which also includes four-straight home games after opening the season in a late-night affair in Edmonton.

Nearly everything has been a little unusual this season for Winnipeg.

Strong goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck, an early-season NHL record from Kyle Connor and four goals in the team's first three games from Mark Scheifele are not major anomalies, rather near expectations at this point.

"That's kind of the learning curve if you're going to play the way that we play," head coach Scott Arniel said of his team's play on Sunday.

"That's the growth that has happened. It's buy-in. That's the biggest thing that I think we can throw at all of the guys that are big minute guys is the buy-in that we're getting from those guys. Whether it's the defencemen or it's the forwards, they know that, 'OK, what is the recipe for me to have the puck on my stick more often?' And they're buying into that. That's how it's happening and why we're successful."

Other than training camp injuries/re-occurrences to Logan Stanley and Ville Heinola and a difficult start to the season for the Jets' second line, fans, players, management and staff alike could not have asked for a better start.

And now, all that can be done is wait.

With the Macklin Celebrini-less San Jose Sharks making their way to town for a Friday night test at Canada Life Centre, Winnipeg will look to extend its winning streak to four games, before hosting Sidney Crosby and the aging Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon.
