The Winnipeg Jets will be without a familiar face on the blueline next season.

Veteran defenceman Brenden Dillon will have a new home for the 2024-25 season and onward.

The 33-year-old blueliner has signed a three-year deal with the New Jersey Devils for a total of $12 million - or $4 million per season.

Having suited up for Winnipeg in each of the past three years following a trade from Washington in July of 2021, Dillon put up a stellar 2023-24 campaign, doing enough to earn his big-money deal with the Devils.

He scored a career-high eight goals, put up 20 points and a team-leading 92 penalty minutes. He also fought a career-high seven times this past year.

Dillon added another three helpers in three postseason games against the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring.

The B.C. product will now look to begin a new chapter in Newark with the Devils, where he will more than likely play out the 2026-27 season.
