Winnipeg ICE forward Zach Benson and Winnipeg Jets draft pick Domenic DiVincentiis each were selected as members of the CHL All-Star teams this past week.
DiVincentiis made the CHL Second Team All-Stars, while Benson was chosen as a member of the CHL Third Team All-Stars.
DiVincentiis, a 2022 seventh round pick of Winnipeg (207th overall), had himself a stellar 2022-23 season for the North Bat Battalion. The 19-year-old went 36-9-2 with a 2.33 goals against average and a .919 save percentage on the season.
Each of those statistics led the league. His win total, save percentage and goals against average were each franchise records.
The 19-year-old had five shutouts on the year, which was tied for first among all backstops. In fact, the second year player didn't lose consecutive games all season.
The Second Team All-Star selection was not his first trophy of the season, as he already was selected as the Ontario Hockey League's Jim Rutherford Trophy winner, as the league's top goaltender, as determined by the coaches and general managers.
Benson, a 2023 NHL Draft-eligible forward, finished third in league scoring with 98 points on the year, just a handful of points up on teammates Matthew Savoie (95 points) and Connor McClennon (92 points).
His 98 points were the most by any player in franchise history. And he did so in just 60 games played, for a 1.63 points-per-game rate.
The 18-year-old had 36 goals on the season and 62 assists, including three hat tricks and seven four-point outings. He finished behind just Connor Bedard (143 points) and Chase Wheatcroft (107 points) in league scoring.
Benson - who is projected to go within the Top-10 this summer - held the league's second-best plus/minus rating at +68, while his eight game-winning goals were tied for third most of all players.
