The Winnipeg Jets will gain the services of veteran forward Nino Niederreiter on Tuesday night in their game against the Seattle Kraken.
The penultimate game of the season for Winnipeg will see the familiar, smiling face of Niederreiter, who has been absent since suffering a cut to his leg and Achilles tendon on April 1 vs. Los Angeles.
He missed the entire season-ending road trip, to which the Jets won all four games, but is eager to get back into the fold on Tuesday night.
“Obviously it was kind of a scary play,” Niederreiter said of the gash suffered against the Kings. “I felt something in my leg but I didn’t know exactly what it was. So, I reached down a couple of times and felt some blood at some point, and then it started getting warm. That’s when I knew I got to get off and see what’s up.
“Obviously got extremely lucky. Nicked my Achilles a little bit and had to get a few stitches. And I’m glad I’m standing here right now.”
On the season, the 31-year-old has 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points in his 75 games of action.
The Jets and Kraken will renew hostilities at 7:00 PM central time from Canada Life Centre. With just one point over its next two games, Winnipeg will clinch home-ice advantage for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
