Winnipeg Jets forwards Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele reached the 20th goal mark for the eighth and 10th consecutive season with their goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Connor scored the first two goals of the game, giving him his 20th and 21st goal of the season. His first came on the power play, giving him nine on the year and putting him second in the NHL, trailing just Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point.
The 28-year-old has now reached the 20-goal mark in every full season he has played in besides his 30-game rookie season. His electric offensive start to the season has him on pace to set career-highs in goals, assists and points.
Scheifele recorded a hat trick against the Maple Leafs and his second goal of the game gave him his 10th consecutive 20-goal season. His fantastic season has him on pace to set a career-high of 48 goals and 96 points, which would be the first time he eclipses the 90-point plateau.
The 31-year-old felt he was snubbed from Team Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off roster and has been showing his displeasure by racking up the goals and points. He has the Jets entering the brief holiday break in first place in the Central Division with a comfortable five-point lead.
If the Jets want to win the division and go on a long playoff run, they'll need their top two forwards to continue to play at this level.
