Last week on Can't-Miss OHL Games, we had three explosive games that lived up to the hype. Niagara against Brampton finished with the Steelheads losing their first game, a six-point night for Kevin He and a goalie fight!
This week, we have three more recommendations for games that you really don't want to miss. As always, if you only watch one game this week make sure that it is one of the following.
Sudbury Wolves @ Kingston Frontenacs - Friday, Oct. 11, 7:00 p.m.
The Quentin Musty saga took over hockey social media after the star forward asked Sudbury to trade him earlier this week. While rumors swirl about where he may end up, Sudbury has yet to pull the trigger on a trade.
The Wolves issued a statement following Musty's trade request which said that if a deal arose that would significantly improve the team, they "would consider it."
Without a trade, Musty is still part of the team, and it will be interesting to see how they choose to deploy him given his trade request.
On the other end of the ice, Jacob Battaglia is off to a scorching start to the season. With five goals and seven assists in five games, he is tied with Michael Misa for second in the league in points.
These two teams are middle of the pack with Kingston sitting one point ahead of Sudbury in the standings. This should be a fun game between two evenly-matched teams with some very high-skill players.
North Bay Battalion @ Niagara IceDogs - Saturday, Oct. 12, 7:00 p.m.
Niagara is one of the biggest surprises this season. Through four games, they have four wins and are the only team that remains undefeated. They took down the Steelheads last week in a game that definitively proved that they are a team to be reconned with.
So far, they have proven they are a young team that is very fun to watch. They average five goals per game and are tied for the fewest goals allowed in the Eastern Conference with just 10.
North Bay is a formidable opponent in their own right having lost only two games this year. They are 3-2 to start the season and sit fourth in the Eastern Conference. Having gone 1-2 last weekend suffering a couple of tough losses to Kingston and Ottawa.
Adding to this is the news that North Bay traded Dalyn Wakely, who scored over 100 points for the Battalion last season, earlier today.
Can the Battalion get back into the win column? Will Niagara remain undefeated? These are the big questions that this game poses.
Flint Firebirds @ Sarnia Sting - Sunday, Oct. 13, 2:05 p.m.
These two teams enter the weekend tied for points in the Western Conference. Flint takes fourth place by virtue of having played one fewer game than Sarnia.
These are two young teams with a large number of rookies in their rosters. Third-round pick Beckham Edwards currently leads the Sting in points with five goals and one assist through six games.
Between the two teams, there will be a total of 12 rookies who will potentially be in this game.
These are also two relatively low-scoring teams. Both have scored fewer than 17 goals so far this season. The difference between the two is that Sarnia has allowed 21 goals while Flint has allowed only thirteen.
There is a real chance that this could be a tight low-scoring game between two teams battling for fourth place at the start of the year.
If Flint beats Sarnia in this game they will extend their lead and maintain their game in hand. This is also an opportunity for Sarnia to jump up in the standings and snag the fourth-place spot from Flint.
