Owen Allard put up a five point performance on Friday night against the Kingston Frontenacs before Canada's World Junior Selection Camp begins on Sunday.

Soo Greyhounds centreman Owen Allard picked up two goals and three assists on Friday night, as the Hounds took a 7-5 win at home.

Seemingly encouraged by his Canadian World Junior Camp invite, Allard put that confidence to work against Kingston. He had a five point night, including a beautiful game-winning-goal.

Allard's five point performance has certainly opened some eyes ahead of camp, as some may be surprised about his invite, considering his numbers.

Allard put himself above a point-per-game with this performance, but he wasn't selected to Canada's camp roster for his goal-scoring ability. His compete and determination are his strongest assets, and he fits as a very effective bottom six forward at a tournament like the World Juniors.

Looking at past Canadian World Junior rosters, Allard's inclusion makes sense. Finding depth forwards who will get the job done at both ends of the ice, and be hard to play against can be difficult to find. This is the type of role that Allard would fill on this World Junior roster, likely as a 3rd/4th line centre.

His hard work and ability to fill a variety of roles makes him a valuable potential asset to this roster.

Canada's Selection camp gets underway on Sunday, December 10th at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. The camp includes several practices and two games against the U Sports "all star" team.

Allard was one of eleven OHLers invited to the camp, and the only one from the Soo Greyhounds.

Canada's World Junior camp ends on Wednesday, December 13th, when we will know more about the roster selections.
