Saginaw Spirit vs Erie Otters Game One Recap

Erie's outpouring of offense took the Spirit and fans completely off guard in game one. The Spirit, well known for their offensive output during the season, found themselves on the back foot as Erie rapidly built up a colossal seven-goal lead.

Interestingly, until the start of the second period, Saginaw was in the driver's seat, outshooting Erie 14-6 in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Twice during the second period, Erie scored a pair of goals under a minute apart, their first two goals of the game coming within 11 seconds of one another.

Malcolm Spence, who is eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft, and Pano Fimis led the way for Erie with two goals apiece while Dylan Edwards and Sam Alfano each tallied a goal and an assist.

The Spirit rallied in the second half of the game, scoring four unanswered goals to make the final score 8-5. Saginaw fans can console themselves with the fact that five different players scored by the end of the game. However, star forward Michael Misa was kept off the scoreboard.

Windsor Spitfires vs Soo Greyhounds Game One Recap

The high-flying Spitfires took off early in this game, taking a 2-0 lead within the first five minutes of the game. By the end of the game, Windsor's potent offense notched seven goals, beating the Greyhounds in a merciless 7-2 game.

The usual suspects did shocking damage in this one with L.A. Kings draft pick Liam Greentree scoring two goals and adding two helpers while linemate and Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas recorded four assists.

Noah Morneau also had a solid game, scoring a pair of goals for this team.

Game one between Oshawa and Brampton was as explosive as we all expected, featuring a pair of hattricks and 11 goals between the two teams. Ultimately, Oshawa came out on top, beating the Steelheads 7-4.

The Greyhounds made a push in the middle of the second period, resulting in a pair of goals scored by Travis Hayes and Utah Hockey Club fifth-round pick Owen Allard.

The biggest concern for the Greyhounds will certainly be the lack of shots in game one. They were outshot 37-16 in the game and never had more than seven shots on goal in a single period.

Puck drop for both series will be at 7:05 p.m. tonight.
