Henry Brzustewicz Plays Hero & the London Knights Come Back From Down Four Goals to Win 7-6 in Overtime Against the Oshawa Generals

The London Knights have gone up 3-0 in the OHL Finals against the Oshawa Generals, and Game 3 was a game for the ages.

Game 3 between London and Oshawa in the OHL Finals was a game that we will remember for quite some time. After several blown leads, a comeback, and a lot of goals, this game ended in overtime.

Heading into this game, London had a 2-0 series lead after winning both games decisively. The Knights had every reason to be confident heading into Game 3, but clearly that got to their heads early on.

Oshawa jumped out to an early start in this one — for the first time in this series. Oshawa scored three consecutive goals within a minute and seven seconds halfway through the first period. These goals came from Calum Ritchie, Luca D'Amato, and Connor Lockhart. At the first intermission, the Generals were up 3-1.

Oshawa's momentum even transferred into the second period, as they added three more goals to go up 6-2 by the second intermission. These next three goals came from Dylan Roobroeck, and both Connor Lockhart and Luca D'Amato got their second goals of the night.

The Generals were up decisively in this game, but their goal scoring would end in the second period, and the offence begun to pour against them.

The London Knights played a third period of their brand of hockey — domination. When the Knights are dominating offensive zone play, they are impossible to slow down. The Knights had several shifts in the third period where they would maintain offensive possession for minutes at a time and be able to roll out all of their lines.

London scored four goals in the third period. The green and gold battled back after being down 6-2 at the end of the second period. One from Oliver Bonk, two from Kasper Halttunen, and the tying marker from Sam O'Reilly was enough to send this game to overtime.

After the second, this game looked like it was long over. The London Knights had different ideas and forced this game to the extra frame.

The first overtime period was very defensive-focused. There wasn't as much open ice, and both teams began to play more conservatively in fear of making a mistake. Twenty minutes rolled past — and no goal.

This game went to a second overtime period, and it would finally end at the 18:00 minute mark. Every overtime game in the playoffs has a hero, and in this game it was Henry Brzustewicz.

The Knights had offensive possession in the Generals zone, and 2007-born Brzustewicz was looking to find room in front of the net. Kasper Halttunen tried to feed the puck out in front, but had no luck. The puck then kicked out to defenceman Isaiah George, who spotted Brzustewicz out in front of the net — wide open.

Brzustewicz was able to deflect George's picture-perfect pass into the back of the net behind Jacob Oster, and the players began to clear the London bench. The rookie defenceman — playing forward — is definitely an unlikely hero to end this game in overtime, but each game has one.

Henry Brzustewicz — the brother of Calgary Flames prospect Hunter — was acquired by London via trade from the Ottawa 67's. For a long time, it looked as if Henry would remain playing in the USA, but then he decided to come to London — and the Knights are grateful that he did.

The London Knights are officially leading this series three-games-to-none, and the Oshawa Generals have their backs up against the wall. London can end this series in four games on Wednesday night back in Oshawa, or the Generals can push the Knights — as they started to do in this game.
