After losing eight of nine, the Kitchener Rangers are on a four game winning streak in the last week and a half.
The Kitchener Rangers were leading the OHL standings for a large majority of the season, until they lost eight of nine games. That slump lasted from January 19th-February 10th.
There was definitely cause for concern, as London, Saginaw, and the Soo continued to soar past them in the Western Conference standings. They were struggling to find the back of the net, a problem they hadn't faced this season.
Since winning their last four, the Rangers seem to be "feeling it" once again, and they are putting goals up in bunches. Kitchener has scored 22 goals in their four game winning streak, beating Guelph, Mississauga, Sudbury, and Peterborough.
The Rangers have received a lot of their players back from injury, as they went through a period of time during the slump where they were forced to dig deep into their depth chart. With most of their lineup active, they have been able to get back to their game.
To no one's surprise, Carson Rehkopf has 9 points in these last four Kitchener win. He's up to 45 goals in 48 games this season, as he leaped over North Bay forward Anthony Romani for the league's goal scoring lead.
Eduard Sale is finally starting to find his place with his new team, as he has scored his first couple goals as a Ranger through this stretch. The Czech forward has had an adjustment period since coming over to North America this season, but he seems to be upping his production as of late.
Overage forward Matthew Sop also has 7 points through the Rangers winning streak. He's been centering a line between Carson Rehkopf and Luke Ellinas.
On the back-end, Hunter Brzustewicz has been having his usual success. The Calgary Flames prospect has been getting it done alongside his defence partner Matthew Andonovski. Brzustewicz has had a season for the ages, and is establishing himself as one of the top OHL prospects from the 2023 NHL Draft class.
The Kitchener Rangers are back in the hunt. They only trail three points behind the Soo Greyhounds for 3rd in the Western Conference, a margin that they have the capabilities to make up.
