The line combinations for Wednesday's CHL Top Prospects Game have been created, and there are a couple of all-OHL lines to watch out for.
The final line combinations have been created for Wednesday's CHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton, N.B. With eighteen OHLers playing in this game, there will be lots to watch from a local Ontario perspective.
Here are the lines for each team:
Tij Iginla - Berkly Catton - Terik Parascak
Liam Greentree - Jett Luchanko - Beckett Sennecke
Alexandre Blais - Gabriel Frasca - Carson Wetsch
Kieron Walton - Luke Misa - Sam O'Rielly
Luca Marrelli - Spencer Gill
Tomas Lavoie - Carter Yakemchuk
Lukas Fischer - Henry Mews
G- Carter George
G- Dawson Cowan
Tanner Howe - Adam Jecho - Maxim Masse
Marek Vanacker - Raoul Boilard - Cole Beaudoin
Julius Miettinen - Ollie Josephson - Ethan Procyszyn
Andrew Basha - Nathan Villeneuve - Eriks Mateiko
Sam Dickinson - Harrison Brunicke
Charlie Elick - Zayne Parekh
Ben Danford - Colton Roberts
G- Ryerson Leenders
G- Lukas Matecha
In Team White's forward group, there are two all-OHL lines: Greentree - Luchanko - Sennecke & Walton - Misa - O'Reilly.
These two lines will be fun to watch anytime they are on the ice. On that first line, Luchanko's speed and compete level will balance out Greentree's driving ability and Sennecke's combination of quickness and skill quite well. These three will be a danger whenever they are on the ice. All three can finish, and Greentree and Sennecke are especially great puck drivers in transition.
On that second line, Misa's speed and creativity with O'Reilly's two-way game and Walton's size and strength in front will be intriguing as well. These are three very different players, and each fill a vital role critical for an effective forward line. I see Misa driving all of the offence on this line.
Gabriel Frasca is the lone-OHLer on the third line, but he has the opportunity to really raise his draft stock in this game. Frasca has been injured for most of the season, and has been hot with Kingston since returning.
On defence, Lukas Fischer and Henry Mews will be paired together. Both are tremendous skaters, and can move the puck well. Mews' offensive ability will be interesting to compare to other top offensive defenders in this draft class, as his stock has been declining.
Luca Marrelli will play with Spencer Gill (QMJHL) on the first pair.
There are not as many OHL players on Team Red, but having Vanacker and Beaudoin on opposite wings together will be intriguing. Vanacker plays a high-tempo game and possesses tremendous hands in tight. Beaudoin plays a slower, more calculated game and his hockey sense and vision are off-the-charts. Both of these players will be fun to watch create with one another.
Ethan Procyszyn is right wing on the third line, and Nathan Villeneuve is playing fourth line centre.
On defence, Sam Dickinson, Zayne Parekh, and Ben Danford are all on different pairs. I would love to see Dickinson and Parekh get time together at some point, given their vastly different play-styles. They are the two top draft-eligible defenders from the CHL, and their games would likely balance each other out.
Ben Danford is playing on the third pair with Colton Roberts (WHL).
In goal, it looks like both OHL goaltenders will get the start and go head-to-head. Carter George will start for Team White, and Ryerson Leenders will start for Team Red.
