It is a rare Tuesday night with two games on the schedule in the OHL. Both matchups have big implications on the standings — especially in the Western Conference.
First up, the Guelph Storm are heading down the highway to Kitchener to take on the Rangers. Kitchener and Guelph currently rank 4th and 5th in the Western Conference standings, and 2nd and 3rd in the Midwest division. Though the Storm are nine points behind Kitchener, they will continue to shrink the gap with a win.
The Rangers have lost eight of their last nine and their slump is like none other that they've had this season. They are also loaded with injuries throughout the lineup.
That being said, Kitchener is winning the season series between the two squads — 4 games to 1. They likely have the edge in terms of winning predictions, as Guelph has been in a slump of their own, losing their last 5 straight.
Both of these teams will be starved for a win tonight at The Aud, and it should be an electric offensive matchup between the two.
For game number two, the Oshawa Generals are meeting up with the Owen Sound Attack in a cross-division matchup.
The Generals have been rocketing up the standings as of late in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting in 4th. They've lost their last three straight, but they won a lot of games in the month of January.
Calum Ritchie has been unstoppable for Oshawa, look for him to continue that tonight against his fellow draft class rival Colby Barlow.
Last season, Ritchie and Barlow battled back and fourth to earn the top honours among 2023 NHL Draft eligible forwards. Barlow was taken first, but Ritchie has had the better season thus far.
Owen Sound currently sits just one point behind Guelph in the Western Conference standings. If the Storm lose and the Attack win, Owen Sound will take over that 5th place spot in the West.
Both games have significant implications on the line tonight, and both should be entertaining matchups between four middle-of-the-pack teams.
