The defending Memorial Cup champions will begin to look forward into a new generation of players.
The Kitchener Rangers reached the summit with one of the all-time great playoff runs in 2025-26, dominating their way to an OHL championship before going undefeated at the Memorial Cup.
With that level of success, there will always be a laundry list of key departures as their stars and other key players move on to the NCAA or pro routes.
For Kitchener, that means Sam O'Reilly, Dylan Edwards, Christian Humphreys, Cameron Reid, Jack Pridham, Gabriel Chiarot, Jared Woolley, Carson Campbell, Christian Kirsch and more will be moving on. Star head coach Jussi Ahokas has also left for an AHL job, with assistant Jeff Kyrzakos stepping into the big seat.

Luca Romano and Alex Bilecki stick out as good players that can still be leaders on an OHL team, while guys such as Haeden Ellis, Andrew MacNiel and Cameron Arquette will be important returnees as well.
There have also been some intriguing new signings, such as American forwards Charlie Puglisi and Jacob Lukes, as well as imports in blueliner Jiri Gombar and Roman Andreev added to the roster.
There will also be a good bit of room for younger draft picks and other players to work their way into this remade roster, and that sort of competition is always good for a team entering a rebuild.
And, as always, a rebuild is a pretty good tradeoff for a Memorial Cup championship.
