With a large number of key departures, the Spits will likely see this as a rebuilding year.
The 2025-26 season brought the Windsor Spitfires back to the Western Conference final, where they fell in a tough series against the eventual champion Kitchener Rangers.
With a big season like that, there's always the expectation for a large amount of roster turnover, and that's precisely what the 2026 summer has looked like in Windsor.
A large number of big-name players have departed to either turn pro, or head off to college, and it's now looking like a year of rebuilding and beginning to build the next contender.

The only real member of Windsor's top scorers last season to return is Anthony Cristoforo, who will be one of the top overagers in the league this year, but also will likely serve as trade bait ahead of the deadline in the new year.
So, this year will be more about seeing what they've got in terms of younger players and some new additions. Ty Bergeron and Michal Svrcek are two very intriguing options up front that should bring some quality.
But as a whole, this Spitfires team is one that will be focused much more on the future than the present.
