39 OHL players taken in the 2024 NHL Draft

Seven rounds, 225 picks and it all happened in only 48 hours. Every year the NHL draft is a spectacle to behold, and this year that was doubly true.

The Sphere in Vegas was a perfect venue for the draft combining equal parts glamour and technological innovation. The atmosphere was phenomenal and the bright flashes from the enormous screens lit up the background.

Over the course of two days, 39 OHL players were drafted onto various NHL teams. Here is a round-by-round break down of the draft.

Round 1: Nine OHL players were taken in the first round. That is the highest number since the 2016 draft.

3rd overall: Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa generals was taken by the Anaheim ducks. So far in his OHL career, Sennecke is nearly a point a game player with 123 points scored in 124 games played.

31st overall: The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Ben Danford with the penultimate pick in the first round. Danford is an extremely reliable defender and shot blocker. 32nd overall: The Edmonton Oilers selected Sam O'Reilly of the London Knights with the last pick in the first round. O'Reilly won an OHL Championship with London this season while recording 56 points.
