Due to yesterday's injury to Adam Jiricek, Steelheads forward Adam Zidlicky will fill Czechia's last roster spot for the World Juniors.

Adam Zidlicky was originally named as a "replacement" player for Czechia in case of injury. Due to yesterday's injury to Adam Jiricek versus Slovakia, Zidlicky gets the call.

Zidlicky will likely start as the 13th forward for Czechia, who lost their first game 6-2 yesterday against Slovakia.

His hard working mindset and skyhigh compete level has earned him a spot on this roster, even if he began as an extra forward. He may not light up the scoresheet or flash his skill often, but his energetic game can be relied upon.

Zidlicky plays in the Steelheads' bottom-six as a depth, competitive forward who can bring energy throughout the lineup. He may not be the most perfect skater, but there are not too many players that can beat him in a straight line foot race.

He is a perfect role player for any junior team. Zidlicky was traded to Mississauga last season from the Kitchener Rangers, where he has found a permanent role.

He currently has 10 points through 26 games, and 37 penalty minutes.

Zidlicky will represent Czechia at the World Juniors for the very first time, and have his opportunity to shine on the international stage.

The Czech forward represented his country at the U18's and at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in the past, so this won't be his first rodeo.

Czechia will play their next game today versus Norway at 11:00am EST, where Zidlicky should be in the lineup. If not, he will play in the coming days.
