Brantford acquires 2027 draft eligible Sementsov from Barrie as future forward depth
The Brantford Bulldogs have acquired Aleksandr Sementsov from the Barrie Colts in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2028 OHL Priority Selection.
According to the Bulldogs, Sementsov will join the Brantford Titans of the GOHL as an affiliate player.
Sementsov, 17, is a 2027 NHL Draft Eligible who was drafted by the Colts in the first round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, 18th overall.
The Russian-born Sementsov played his youth hockey in Ontario since 2023, where in his OHL Draft year he led the OMHA U16 in points with 76 in 34 games, with 21 goals and a league-leading 55 assists.
Sementsov spent last season with the OJHL Newmarket Hurricanes where he had 6 goals, 15 assists, & 21 points in 42 games. Sementsov also appeared in five games for the Colts.
Bulldogs President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Spencer Hyman welcomed Sementsov to the organization, believing in his long-term future.

Despite his status as a former first round pick, Sementsov has struggled to solidify a spot on the Colts roster, and while he will have to wait a year for a chance at an opening night OHL roster, Sementsov could be an option for a full-time spot for the 2027-28 season.
Brantford also assigned Shattuck-St. Mary's forward Ethan Chen to the GOHL Titans, having signed the American on Tuesday. Chen appeared in 51 games for Shattuck with nine goals, 12 assists, & 21 points.
Additionally, forward Joey Banas was assigned to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL. Forward Ben Carr was also re-assigned, with his team for this season "to be confirmed", according to the Bulldogs.
