Brampton has announced Troy Patton as the team's captain for the 2026-27 season
The Brampton Steelheads have named forward Troy Patton as the club's new captain, with MacGregor Richmond, Reed Gee, Kieran Witkowski and Carter Hicks named as alternate captains.
A third-year forward, Patton takes over the captaincy after Mason Zebeski held it last season before being dealt to the Barrie Colts, to which Brampton continued without a captain for the season.
Assistant Parker Von Richter was also dealt along with Zebeski to Barrie. Fellow assistants Gabriel Chiarot and Jakub Fibigr were moved to the Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires respectively.
On Patton being named as captain, Steelheads head coach and general manager James Richmond praised Patton. "As a staff we are very happy with the character of our group. Troy Patton plays every game with passion and the desire to win. He is a true Leader", said Richmond.
Patton, 18, had 10 goals, 14 assists, & 24 points in 65 games last season for the Steelheads. Patton was drafted by the Steelheads when the team was still in Mississauga, selected 34th overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Hicks, 18, is a right-shot defenseman selected 24th overall by the Windsor Spitfires. Hicks had just four points in 36 games in a depth role for Windsor before being dealt in the Fibigr trade. Hicks had 12 points in 27 games after being traded to Brampton.
Witkowski, 19, had 14 goals, 20 assists, & 34 points in 62 games in 2025-26 with the Steelheads. Witkowski was a second round pick, 35th overall, with Mississauga in 2023.
Richmond, 20, the son of Steelheads coach and GM James, had five goals and 12 points in 57 games for Brampton last season. Richmond was a sixth rounder of the Mississauga Steelheads in 2022.
Gee, 20, was a third round pick of Flint in the 2022 Draft. Gee had five points in 54 games last season with Brampton.
