The Badgers get a commitment from 2028 NHL Draft prospect Aiden Kelly after his OHL hot start
Brantford Bulldogs forward Aiden Kelly has announced his commitment to play NCAA hockey at the University of Wisconsin.
Kelly, 16, commits to the Badgers following a hot start in the Ontario Hockey League, tied for third in points with 14, having four goals and 10 points for the Brantford Bulldogs this season.
Kelly was a first round pick of the Bulldogs in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, 20th overall, coming off of a dominant OHL Cup performance with 12 points in five games for the Little Caesars U15, leading the tournament with a 2.4 PPG.
Outside factors, including uncertainty over if the Michigan native would come over to the OHL or pick the USHL helped lower his OHL draft stock, had left Kelly open for Brantford to swoop in for the American at the end of the first round.
Kelly was one of two Little Caesars players taken in the first round of the draft, with Ontario-born Colin Kennedy going second to the Erie Otters.
Currently, Kelly is on pace for 27 goals, 68 assists, & 95 points on the season with Brantford, which would make him the first 16-year-old D-1 prospect to hit 95 points in a season since Connor McDavid for the Erie Otters in 2014.
It isn't known if Kelly will head to the Badgers next season for his draft year, or if he will stay in the OHL and join Wisconsin for the 2028-2029 NCAA season. With his current projection, Kelly could be fast-tracked to the Badgers lineup early for next season.
