Briir Long signs with the Brantford Bulldogs, after a lightning-hot start to his junior career.
The Brantford Bulldogs have signed Briir Long to an OHL Scholarship & Development Agreement.
The Bulldogs drafted Long with their 10th round pick in 2023, 189th overall.
So far this season, he has been playing with the St. Thomas Stars of the GOJHL, also known as Junior B in Ontario. The Stars haven't been the strongest team this season, but Briir Long has been a consistent contributing factor.
His shooting and naturally-gifted goal scoring ability is phenomenal for his age, in a league where he is playing against mostly older men.
The North Bay, Ontario-native has 24 goals and 38 points in just 30 games for St. Thomas. He leads his team by a mile in the production department.
Long played in the GOJHL Top Prospects Game in Ayr this week, putting his talents on display for the entire league to see. Against the league's other top prospects, Long again showed amongst the best.
Last season, he played with the U16 Mississauga Sens in the GTHL where he was one of the most dominant forwards up front. They had current Steelheads goaltender Jack Ivankovic in the crease, but they weren't an overly offensive team. Long was the source of a lot of the offence that they did have.
The Bulldogs sign Long, who will join their young forward core. Their depth is very inexperienced, and allowing Long to join that group gives him some experience ahead of next season.
Long will likely fulfill a full-time role next season, as he will get at least a few games in this year.
Long's future as a goal-scorer in the OHL is inevitable, and the Bulldogs have found another gem late in the 10th round.
