Carson Rehkopf of the Kitchener Rangers has been named OHL Player of the Week, while London Knights goaltender Michael Simpson has been named goaltender of the week.
Kitchener Rangers centre Carson Rehkopf has been on a hot streak recently, and he was just named OHL Player of the Week.
Rehkopf has 9 points in his last three games.
The Seattle Kraken prospect was extra driven with the playoffs within reach this week, as the Rangers were able to clinch. The clinching game was a 7-3 win over the Sarnia Sting, where Rehkopf put on a show with a six point performance.
Kitchener has been one of the OHL's top teams all-season-long, but they have declined slightly as of late. Carson Rehkopf is who has allowed this team to be successful and get on the scoreboard on a nightly basis. Rehkopf is the heart and soul of this team, and his offensive leadership on the ice is what makes them dangerous.
Rehkopf's shot is lethal, and there's no way around it. Teams have a difficult time defending his shot, because he can score from everywhere. He can get lost at the top of the zone and shoot from the point, or he can create space in the slot.
The Kraken prospect is leading the OHL in goals with 47.
London Knights netminder Michael Simpson was named OHL Goaltender of the Month once again. He had 2 wins this week, along with a 1.00 GAA and a .956% save percentage.
The Knights were the first team to clinch a playoff spot, as they have been especially dominant in the second half of this season.
Simpson is an overage goaltender who was traded to London from the Peterborough Petes earlier this season. Simpson won last year's OHL Championship with the Petes, also winning OHL Playoff MVP.
