The Windsor Spitfires selected Ethan Belchetz with their first overall pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, and now he has officially signed his OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the club.

Belchetz is a 6-foot-5, 230-pound sixteen-year-old winger with loads of offensive creativity and a high-end shot. Yes, that is right, 6-foot-5. Belchetz was considered a "unicorn" in this draft class for just that reason.

There aren't many players that can create and generate offence like he can at that size, and the Spitfires made sure that they weren't going to let him pass by in the OHL Draft.

The Spitfires has a player on their hands that they can build this team around, as they continue their rebuilding phase. Belchetz and Liam Greentree will make an electric duo in this league, as Greentree has been regarded as a high pick in this year's NHL Draft.

Belchetz will likely walk in as a first line winger in Windsor's lineup, and depending on how he adapts to the league, he will likely stay there. There will definitely be an adjustment for Belchetz when he enters the league, considering the pace he plays at.

He is quick for his size and his skating will be good enough at the OHL level, but it will likely take some time for Belchetz to adapt once he enters the league.

The Spitfires certainly have an electric player on their hands. Belchetz will keep fans on the edge of their seats, and he is always entertaining to watch. Belchetz is already a player to watch ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft, and his OHL career hasn't even begun yet.
