Flint signed University of Minnesota commit Hayden Reid earlier today.

It was announced on earlier today by the Flint Firebirds that the team signed forward Hayden Reid to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
"We're very happy to add Hayden to our organization," said Flint GM Dave McParlan. "He fits the mold of Flint and the Firebirds; a blue-collar, hard-working style of play, but with plenty of skill."
Flint acquired Reid's rights as part of the trade that sent Tristan Bertucci to Barrie during the offseason.
Reid spent last season playing for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL. In 60 games last season, Reid scored six goals and added 10 assists for a total of 16 points. In six games this season, Reid has recorded three assists.
Reid is an excellent depth addition for a Flint squad that currently finds themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference.
"I'm super excited for the opportunity to join the Firebirds' organization," said Reid. "I can't wait to get on the ice at the Dort and get started."
Interstingly, Reid is committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2025-26 season. As the rules currently stand playing for Flint in the OHL would negate Reid's eligibility for NCAA hockey.
NCAA is set to vote on the eligibility of CHL players in the near future. If they vote in favor of CHL players being able to join the league, then we may see more players making the decision as Reid.
Reid will get the opportunity to suit up for his new team on Friday when the Firebirds host the Peterborough Petes.
