Two top selections in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection have signed their OHL Scholarship & Development agreements with their respective clubs.
The Flint Firebirds selected forward Cole Zurawski with their 6th overall pick, and now Zurawski has officially signed with the club. Zurawski is a sharp-shooting winger who can be a difference maker when he has the puck in the offensive zone.
If Zurawski has an open lane, you can bet that he is taking it. He has an elite shot in this draft class, and he has the ability to take over games. Zurawski has the hands and playmaking vision as well, and he can drive offence for his team.
Zurawski will join the Flint Firebirds — a team in need of a difference maker up front. He will likely play alongside Anaheim Ducks prospect Coulson Pitre next season, which should make for an electric duo in Flint.
The Sudbury Wolves had the 12th overall pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, and they selected defenceman Luca Blonda from the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program.
Blonda is an offensive catalyst from the blue line. He has unlimited creativity in the offensive zone, and he has the ability to dictate offence for his team. Blonda is an electric player to watch, and will certainly keep many Wolves fans on the edge of their seats.
He's a smooth skating defender, who should quickly become Sudbury's number one defender on the man advantage. The Wolves lack that go-to offensive defenceman, and Blonda should fill that role quite nicely.
Blonda is from Sault Ste. Marie originally, and played with the Soo Jr. Greyhounds program until this past season, where he played with the Pens Elite 15U. He will get to play much closer to home this season with the Wolves, potentially a hometown rivalry for him and his family.
